In a mystery that has baffled experts across the country and beyond, the red squirrel is back less than a decade after it was declared extinct in Westmeath. Local wildlife ranger Andrea Webb confirmed that there have been several reported sightings of the elusive creatures, which had previously been declared extinct. The red squirrel has been found in Ireland since before the last ice age, but became extinct a number of times. One of the local reported sightings of a red squirrel was made by Belvedere House Gardens and Park, a 160 acre lakeside attraction steeped in history, nature, horticulture, exploration, architecture, restoration and drama. This year, Budget Bus are offering a fantastic value school tour programme combining Belvedere House & Gardens in the morning, followed by a trip to the Rock ‘n’ Bowl Leisure Centre in Mullingar in the afternoon. Students will have the opportunity to explore the gardens (and with a bit of luck spot a red squirrel!) in the morning and round off the tour in the afternoon with a fun bowling trip! The Stroll ‘n’ Bowl tour costs just €18 per student and includes pick up from your school in one of our deluxe coaches, entrance into Belvedere House & Gardens in the morning and Rock ‘n’ Bowl in the afternoon, and return coach transfer to your school!  Click here for more details about this fantastic tour, call us on 01-8227265 or email schooltours@budgetbus.ie to book today!
